Mohammed started his career in the family company; where he began working as a low-entry employee in different positions in customs, sales, marketing, purchasing, accounting, and management. He gradually progressed in positions until he held the post of Department Store Manager in Riyadh in 1996. Along the way, he attained several diplomas thus became a gemologist, a diamond expert, and a goldsmith. He also attended courses arranged by Sotheby’s in the history of art and jewelry. Mohammed also worked briefly as a goldsmith in a local Italian gold factory in Italy in 1992. In addition, Mohammed is proud to have been the first Arab intern at Christie’s N.Y. auction house; where he worked for few months in 1995.
In 1997, Mohammed started a new company in the jewelry industry (Fitaihi Junior) and had a great success with high growth in profitability. In 2002 Mohammed was hired by a renowned investment banking firm in Switzerland, (Swicorp). He worked between Saudi Arabia and Switzerland for two years. In 2004, Mohammed started a new company (Luxury Goods Trading Company). In 2005, Mohammed introduced a new brand (Baby Fitaihi); the first jewelry brand targeting new born and children. Baby Fitaihi has become a leader in the children’s jewelry market, and has quickly captured a large market share, thus opening showrooms all over Saudi Arabia. Mohammed currently is expanding Baby Fitaihi in the Gulf Countries, and other regions in the Arab World.
Mohammed has been awarded some of the most prestigious entrepreneurs’ awards in the MENA region for starting one of the fastest growing companies in the Arab World, from 2008 to 2011. The award is directed by All World Network, whose chairman is Michael E. Porter, the infamous Harvard Business School professor. Mohammed has been awarded top honors in the Istanbul Entrepreneurship Summit in 2011 by H.E. Prime Minister Urdogan and top honors in the Dubai Entrepreneurship summit in 2012 awarder by Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Bin Maktoum. in the latter summit, Baby Fitaihi was awarded top honors among the fastest 500 growing brands in the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey regions, among the top 100 in the MENA region, the 7th fastest growing company in Saudi Arabia, and the fastest growing company in the Luxury Goods Industry in all of the above regions.
Mohammed was born in Jeddah; and he completed his secondary education in the city. He continued education in the US; where he graduated from George Washington University with System Analysis Engineering bachelor degree in 1991. He received his Masters degree in Finance in 1999 from Northeastern University with honors. He also received an M.B.A in Entrepreneurship in 2001 form Babson College with top honors.
